We're Alexander and Thi Yen. Before Danish Wedding existed, we wanted to marry ourselves, as a binational couple holding documents from several countries. Court exemptions from one authority, apostilles from another consulate, certified translations that had to match a third office's format — month after month, the paperwork stack grew taller while our wedding date stayed exactly as far away as it had been at the start. A friend eventually mentioned the Danish route, and that single conversation changed everything.
In Denmark, we found a process that actually worked, and that one case became the starting point for everything that followed. What began as our own paperwork turned into a close study of the Danish system: every quirk of Familieretshuset, every apostille rule tied to a country of origin, every document pitfall a binational couple is likely to run into.
